This paper by John Holmes and Dean Genner discusses the fluctuating forces produced by wind action and reviews provisions in the Eurocode and AS 4100 to deal with the effect of these forces on steel structures. It outlines a simplified approach to the design of details in steel structures against high-cycle fatigue damage and failures due to the fluctuating load produced by turbulent wind forces.
