The 110,000 seat Stadium Australia is an outstanding construction achievement which showcases the benefits of steel, particularly evident in the soaring grandstand roof shells. The ability to shape steel into highly structurally --efficient forms made it ideally suited for the long--span roof structures which are a feature of this project. The Stadium was at the time the largest Olympic stadium ever built and it is the stunning showpiece of the exciting new sporting facilities developed for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
