Friction grip bolting of galvanized structures CM_May_2003

Friction grip bolted joints rely on the bolts being tensioned to a pre-determined torque, allowing the friction in the joint to take some of the bearing load. The connecting surfaces should have a slip factor (coefficient of friction) of 0.35 or greater. A test program has evaluated slip factors on hot dip galvanized steel components.  In: Corrosion Management, May 2003
