Since the early 1970s, research results have shown that hot dip galvanizing does not affect the strength of Grade 250 Mpa structural steel. Steelmakers worldwide have developed new structural steels with higher yield and tensile strengths. A test program has shown that hot dip galvanizing of uncoated high strength steel or pre-galvanized steel after acid stripping has no effect on steel strength.  In: Corrosion Management, Nov 2000.
