Steel allowed the carpark extension to be designed and subsequently constructed with minimum disruption to the tourist trade, airport employees, and visitors. The project involved removing the steel roof from the existing structure, the addition of three new steel framed parking levels on top, and reinstallation of the steel roof framing at the new level.
