The ASI has welcomed the Federal Government’s decision to have a decarbonisation sector plan for the built environment.
The sector plan announced this month will set climate emission reduction targets specifically for the built environment, which will place further demand for low carbon material solutions.
Welcoming the announcement, ASI chief executive Mark Cain said it would give further impetus to ASI initiatives including the ASI Net Zero White Paper and the Steel Sustainability Australia program for sustainability certification.
The Australian Sustainable Building Environment Council (ASBEC) of which ASI is a member of through the Australian Steel Stewardship Forum (ASSF), lobbied for the sector plan.
