  • ASI state manager David Varcoe has been appointed the new deputy chair of a University of Wollongong advisory committee set up to support research and education delivery in the university’s School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering (MMMB). 
  • Wollongong-based Bisalloy Steel will provide armour plates for Egyptian military vehicles under a new deal with Hanwha Aerospace. The two companies announced an MoU in February last year covering the use of Bisalloy’s steel for land platforms such as the Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle and the K9 Self-Propelled Howitzer for export to international markets.
  • Australian steel fabricator Beenleigh Steel Fabrications (BSF) has officially opened its new facility in Berrinba in a push to ramp up its production capacity and create new apprenticeships and traineeships. The company has completed the construction of its new $12 million facility with the support of the Palaszczuk Government’s $175 million Jobs and Regional Growth Fund, the Queensland government revealed in a media statement.
