Maria Mavrikos is putting her learnings from a successful career in steel to good use in a new social enterprise, Steel Chicks.
Steel Chicks provides a supportive national community to help women in steel achieve their career goals through networking events, mentorship and internship programs, coaching sessions and developmental training sessions.
In one of its first initiatives, Steel Chicks will present a Breaking Barriers in Steel panel discussion at Corner Hotel in Richmond on August 14 from 6.30pm (register here). The discussion is open to both members and non-members, with members receiving a discount rate.

Maria is the founder of Structural Challenge, a steel fabrication business that started life in 2000 with just three employees but now has 50.
Currently serving as a member of an advisory group to the Victorian Local Jobs First Commissioner, Maria is also a board member of the Australian Steel Institute, a committee member of the Structural Steel Fabricators Association of Victoria, a committee member of the charity organisation The Steel Club of Victoria, and a member of the ASI Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee.
