Education the key to success at Southern Steel

ASI member Southern Steel Group (SSG) at Milperra and TAFE NSW have combined to deliver vocational training to 12 SSG employees who recently graduated with a Cert II Engineering Distribution and Processing Skills qualification. Addressing the graduating class, SSG owner Peter Smaller emphasised the importance of investing in education and training for growth of both the company and the employees themselves.  Managing director Sam Mounem spoke about the importance of a combination hard work and being patient leading to career development opportunities. It was a family affair with Elaine Smaller presenting the certificates and congratulating each employee personally. The ASI was acknowledged during the ceremony for having facilitated the relationship between TAFE and SSG and suggesting the Cert II qualification as a means for employee skill development. SSG is now planning another intake of employees to the program in 2024. To find out more about skills development training for your staff members, contact ASI training and development manager Anne Lobascher at annel@steel.org.au to discuss your needs and connect you with the right people.
