Minister outlines business opportunities at ASI forum

NT Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill has explored new business opportunities for steel at an ASI-convened steel fabricators forum in the NT.

Welcoming the minister, ASI QLD/NT manager John Gardner said collaboration between government and industries was vital for unlocking new opportunities for steel in the territory. John noted the commitment of the minister to investigate support for local steel fabricators to be certified to Australian standards.

While the number of certified steel fabricators is increasing in the southern states, Jakes Steel and Welding is the only NT steel fabricator currently certified to meet the requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZS 5131 Structural Steelwork - Fabrication and Erection.
