Hangan Steel

Hangan Steel began in 2018 when Hangan Construction acquired Affordable Steel, a

40-year-old structural steel fabrication business. This acquisition merged our expertise in building, carpentry, and framing with structural steel capabilities, creating a distinctive service offering for builders across Australia.

Our growth trajectory has been remarkable. We outgrew our initial Heidelberg factory and relocated to a 500m2 facility in Bayswater, equipped with two 5-tonne cranes. By integrating skilled carpenters into steel installation, we demonstrated unmatched precision and professionalism, earning the trust of a loyal customer base. In March 2022, we expanded with a 1,300m2 factory in Warragul for enhanced fabrication and storage. June 2024 saw the addition of the BCT Group light gauge framing business and a third Bayswater factory. Most recently, in January 2025, we acquired East Coast Welding & Fabrication in Caloundra, Queensland, extending our footprint into Southeast Queensland.

Today, Hangan Steel employs over 60 professionals, led by Indi Hangan, a licensed and qualified builder. With five steel installation crews guided by experienced carpenters,
