This publication is the eighth part of the set of 8 Tubular Connections Series books.
The connections included in the current Tubular Design Guide are generically associated with various configurations of fully welded connections between a chord member and typically two or more brace members where an overlap exists between the brace members along the connected face of the chord. The overlap between the brace members results in the brace member force being partially transferred through direct connection between the adjacent brace members, a distinctly different structural load path and behavioural model than that for gapped connections discussed in TDG26.
In addition to the usual K & N overlap connections, guidance is also provided for KT connections, the topology of which is a combination of K and T connections.
This publication supersedes in part AISC 'Design of structural steel hollow section connections, volume 1: Design models' by A.A..Syam and B.G. Chapman, 1996.
