The booming Western Australian resources sector will play a major role in engaging delegates at this year’s Australian Steel Convention in Perth from Sunday, 14 to Tuesday, 16 September.

Recognising the invaluable part played by the resource sector to the Australian economy, the Convention organisers have already secured Chief Executive Officer of the Fortescue Metals Group, Andrew Forrest. The event will be officially opened by Western Australia’s Deputy Premier, the Hon Eric Ripper MLA, with the State’s Minister for Energy, Resources, Industry & Enterprise, the Hon Francis Logan MP speaking during the Convention.

It will be held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex on the banks of the Swan River, 15 minutes from the airport and a short distance from Perth’s CBD. By hosting the Convention, Perth also has the distinction of welcoming the winners of the ASI’s first national steel awards in the categories of Building Design Product, Architectural Design and Engineering Design. Apart from admittance to hear high profile speakers and participate in specialist workshop sessions, registration includes lunches, morning and afternoon teas, exhibition floor entry, Convention satchel, a full partner social program and invitation to join the Sunday golf event onsite.
