A number of industry leaders have recently joined the ASI Board of Directors following the departure of several directors mainly due to changes to their management responsibilities. Director and past Chairman (2004-08) Bernie Landy has relocated to China as President BlueScope Coated Steel China and has therefore announced his resignation from the ASI Board from January. He has been ASI’s longest standing Director with some 20 years of continuous service and support on the Board of ASI and Council of AISC. He also served on the ASI Finance Committee from 2003 to 2004. Tristram Carfrae is also resigning from the ASI Board due to his relocating back to the UK as Global Chair of Buildings at Arup. Michael Parker resigned due to his move to another role within BlueScope Steel and Paul O’Keefe has taken up his position on the Board. Long time ASI Director and Managing Director of CMC Coil Steels, Peter Muller has retired and the new Managing Director at CMC Australia, Matt Stedman has accepted the role on the Board. ASI chief Executive, Don McDonald wished them all the best for the future and welcomed the new Directors. “They will no doubt help us keep focused on the main game of upholding the value proposition of Australian steel,” he said.
