Attention all Engineers! Engineers Australia Presentation - ensure that your structural steel projects meet the requirements of the latest editions of AS 4100 & AS/NZS 5131 plus next year's National Construction Code (NCC).

With engineers continuing to be caught up in projects being negatively impacted by non-compliant structural steel, this is a very timely presentation by Dr Peter Key, ASI National Technical Development Manager, Australian Steel Institute.

Peter has been receiving an increased number of queries from engineers noticing serious issues with imported low quality steel, including issues with steel strength, ductility, weldability and inclusions in hot rolled steel causing laminations and increased risk of catastrophic failure.

Information will be provided on how to ascertain the compliance of structural steel from both overseas steel mills and Australian steel mills to meet the requirements of the Deemed to Satisfy Solutions and Performance Solutions in the NCC. This is particularly important with the increased focus in the NCC on robust verification methods.

A Steel Verification Protocol Structure will be discussed which includes Steel Manufacturer Verification, Supply Chain Verification, Traceability Verification and Product Performance Verification to assist you to assess the conformity of structural steel, minimise risk for your projects and address your duty of care under WHS.

Peter’s talk is not only relevant to engineers, but all members of the steel product supply chain including manufacturers, distributors, fabricators, constructors and building certifiers.
