Choose the ASI membership that suits you


The ASI offers a number of different membership categories in order to target its service to each member group. These categories have been defined by the ASI Board and include appropriate conditions and provisions for granting of that membership. 

It is possible to join the ASI as a Corporate or an Individual member. Join now!

ASI Corporate Memberships

Sustaining members

For companies providing continued substantial financial support as determined by the Board. Please contact the ASI directly for more details.

Manufacturer membership

Businesses that manufacture raw steel or are engaged in Australia in manufacturing or roll-forming steel finished products. The membership application is sent to the ASI Board for approval. Apply here

Service (Distribution) Centre membership

Businesses that store, sell and/or distribute steel products and are appointed distributors for one or more ASI manufacturer members. The membership application is sent to the ASI Board for approval. Fee schedule

Fabricator membership

Businesses that fabricate steel structures, vessels, pipelines or any other form of steel fabrication. Fee schedule

Associate membership

Businesses that supply equipment, consumables and/or services to manufacturer, service centre or fabricator members. Fee schedule

Professional membership

Businesses engaged in architecture, structural engineering, steel detailing, quantity surveying and/or project management. Fee schedule

Academic libraries membership

For Australian academic libraries wishing to subscribe to steel Australia magazine and the Steel Construction journal, gain an individual eLibrary login from the librarian and members' discount on the purchase of books from the ASI bookshop. ASI Individual Memberships

Individual membership

Individual membership is available to all individuals interested in the use of steel but who fall outside the other categories of membership. Individual membership costs $190 pa and runs from July of one year to June of the next. It is subject to the following conditions:

1. Member benefits are not transferable:

  • Member discount is applicable to the purchase of one copy only of each publication in the ASI Bookshop.
  • When registering for an ASI event, member discount applies to registering a place for the individual member only and may not be transferred to anyone else.

2. Each individual member is entitled to receive one copy of each issue of steel Australia and the Steel Construction journal.

Academic membership (Free)

Free ASI membership is available to lecturers in engineering, architecture or construction at an Australian university and/or TAFE college offering courses that further the steel industry as part of its curriculum. Academic members can benefit from the library service for teaching aids and assistance with guest lectures from State Managers as required.

Student membership (Free)

The ASI offers free online membership to students who are studying Bachelor degrees in engineering, architecture or construction and who are enrolled at universities in Australia. Membership includes free access to the ASI eLibrary for digitally delivered items.

Student member benefits are not transferable:

  • Member discount is applicable to the purchase of one copy only of each publication in the ASI Bookshop.
  • When registering for an ASI event, member discount applies to registering a place for the student member only and may not be transferred to anyone else.
