The ASI regularly organises technical presentations and seminars on topics of interest to the industry. Staff regularly present papers at international and domestic conferences, communicating the benefits and behaviour of structural steel, as well as changes in the industry. The ASI's highly qualified technical staff have extensive networks into all the major universities. They make their expertise available to engineers, fabricators, designers, students and others who require technical information and advice on structural steel. By keeping up with the latest information from Australia and overseas ASI's free technical advisory service provides the best and most practical advice on steel construction. ASI members can access to 20,000 library items on the best steel design information. Library services include online loan requests, inter-library loans, library searches and compilation of references. All individual and designated corporate members receive copies of the ASI’s quarterly news magazine, steel Australia. The bi-annual technical journal, Steel Construction Journal, contains valuable and practical information on steel design and construction. It is supplied in PDF unless a hard-copy is requested specifically. There is also access to read in full text in the Member Area, the steel Australia magazine and all past issues of the Steel Construction Journal.
ASI members are kept up to date on new developments, be they new Australian standards, advocacy wins or safety alerts.

The ASI's participation in relevant Standards committees provides members with awareness and engagement with the Standards process. Members might be nominated on Standards committees, or the ASI through its presence on Standards committees inform membership of what is going on in this space.
