Queensland Committees and Working Groups

Engagement with ASI members is essential to support the local steel supply chain to be successful in a competitive marketplace.

Through its Queensland committees and working groups the ASI focuses on a number of key areas:

  • Discussing, developing and implementing Queensland-based ideas that promote design and construction with Australian steel. Reviewing and commenting on national policies and activities, educating the state’s technical and construction personnel in the steel supply chain through group presentations, and providing discussion and input on issues affecting the steel industry supply chain
  • Arranging for early engagement with project proponents and EPCMs in the pursuit of local supply and servicing of projects. Seeking to work closely with the state’s Industry Capability Network (ICN) and government departments to achieve the best possible outcomes for structural steelwork compliance and Full, Fair and Reasonable opportunities to participate in projects
  • Providing a forum to discuss, develop and implement Queensland-based ideas that support Australian steel manufacturing and distribution. Educating manufacturing and distribution personnel in the state’s steel supply chain through meetings/presentations, and networking events
  • Providing a forum for the extension of national ASI WH&S programs and for review and comments on national policies. Supporting the ASI’s national safety projects and activities and seeking to enhance safety communication and safety education of all manufacturing/distribution, transport and fabrication personnel in the steel supply chain.
